Summer Musical in Woodland Park

The King and I
East versus West makes for a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by those in the West, and he seeks Anna's assistance in changing his image, if not his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another, in a truly unique love story. Performed for the first time in the area, and on Farmington City’s Woodland Park Amphitheater, this production is sure to be unique and endearing – one you won’t want to miss!

Show Dates: Tuesday, July 13th – Saturday, July 17th
Show Location: Woodland Park (300 South 200 East) Farmington, Utah
Show Times: 7:00pm with a Matinee Performance Saturday, July 17th at 1:00pm
Ticket Prices: $5 per person/$20 per family

Second Chance Theater's production of "The Glass Menagerie"

Second Chance Theater will be presenting Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie at the Farmington Community Arts Center March 26th and 27th at 7pm, with a matinee performance on the 27th at 1:00pm. This is one of the class plays of the American theater. It centers on the Wingfield family in Depression era St. Louis: Tom, an aspiring poet who spends his days in a warehouse eager to start out on his own life's journey; his overbearing mother Amanda who yearns for the glamor of the past; and his fragile sister Laura who dreams of a brighter future and a happiness that seems just out of reach. Delicately weaving truth and illusion, the story is written from the point of view of narrator Tom Wingfield.

This play has a small cast, so they are counting on the support of those who love good theater! The cast is made up of some exceptionally talented actors including Paul Wuthrich who was last seen playing Charlie Baker in Farmington City's Dinner Theater production of The Foreigner.

The play is appropriate for Junior High and older and would make a great "date night" activity. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and can be purchased on the website www.secondchancetheater.com or at the door. Hope to see you there!

Willy Wonka Participation Policies and Procedures:

A participation fee of $15.00 for residents and $25.00 for non-residents and a $75.00 volunteer deposit will be required in order to audition. The volunteer deposit is required to ensure that we get adequate volunteer support from parents and family to run this production in a safe and positive way. For families with more than 3 children participation the fee will cap at $45 and $75 respectively and only one deposit will be required per family.

The audition panel will consist of three people including the director, production staff as designated, and a representative from the city (typically the Art Coordinator). Audition panel members who have family members wishing to audition will be temporarily dismissed from the panel at the time of said family member's audition and will have no input as to his/her child's placement in the play.

Free Audition Workshop

In conjunction with the upcoming Willy Wonka auditions, the co-directors of the show, Carol Thomas and Michael Nielsen, are offering a Free Audition Workshop. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend, however, those who are interested in auditioning for Willy Wonka are encouraged to come as it will give you an opportunity to work directly with the directors before being in the intimidating audition situation and it will also give you a feel for how they work and what they expect.

Here is the information:

"Going into an audition is VERY scary! What does the director want? How can I best present myself in such a short time? I don't want to make a fool of myself... are thoughts and fears that prevent any auditioner from doing their best.

Come to this FREE WORKSHOP and actually LEARN how to do a better audition! Practice your audition skills in a safe place where you will get some feedback as to how you can show your skills effectively to the directors.

While no one can guarantee that this workshop will give you the part you really want, you will DEFINITELY feel better about your audition, and be better prepared for future opportunities! Come play with us "audition-style!"

When: Saturday, January 9th
Time: 8:00am - 10:00am
Location: Main Hall, Farmington Community Arts Center, 120 South Main
NO CHARGE WORKSHOP
NO SIGN-UP NECESSARY - JUST COME SATURDAY MORNING IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE!"

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at farmingtonarts@gmail.com.
